ii. Description: How do you define where you stand on global issues? Our suggestion is to think about progressive sustainable world goals focusing on health, education, and institutional structures world-wide. Becoming a global citizen is a constant and conscious adaptation of the way we see, understand and interact with the world. Our journey to global citizenship, will occur through visiting countries in the Mediterranean to draw connections between differing perspectives. We will be expressing this using visual and performing arts to create an enthralling performance. Without delay, join us on our journey to connect the dots.
4. DETERMINE ACTIVITIES
What are the three activities that we would do?

Hi Everyone!
I was wondering if there was a specific issue that you are addressing health, education, and institutional structure? So excited to see this developing!

Hi Friends :)
I think your ideas off to a great start! I was wondering how you guys plan on connecting the pamphlet and the spoken word together. In my mind I am imagining that each group would choose a particular topic to connect the photos and the spoken words to. Which leads me to asking, would these topics be chosen and focused on at the beginning of the week, or did you have something else in mind? Can't wait to see what you guys are thinking :)))
Mylah, Derya and Drew,
There are some very good ideas in your plan. However, I'd like to suggest to be more specific at this point in your lesson plan. As Tiffany and Jasmine commented, we'd also suggest being more explicit about the global issues (i.e., not to wait and see what comes up during the first class) as well as more transparency about how you will connect or if you will connect the pamphlet and the spoken word. Can't wait to see your revisions!
Hi all, Thanks for commenting on this post. I'll respond to each message individually from my perspective.

TMQ,
Thanks for your excitement, I'm super excited as well! As far as instiutional structures, I will be discussing Nonprofits/NGOs and their importance in our country in comparison to Greece. There are major differences between our society but huge commonalities when it comes to the resources and assistance provided by these organizations. This is extremely important to bring awareness to because of the role we all play as citizen in our own communities and the overall global community. The specific issues that I'll be talking about are resource allocation, institutional communication with those in need, and spreading awareness.

Jazzy O,
Thanks for your comment. So, we actually decided to not do the pamphlet to focus more time and energy on the spoken word performance and backdrop canvas creation. Spoken word is a form of poetry, so we will have half of the group working on a poem that they will perform. As we progress throughout the week, students will come up with key words whether they are positive and negative that pertain to being a global citizen and the sustainable development goals. These key words will be incorporated in the poetry as well as in the backdrop. The backdrop will be a collage of crayon melted art pieces that the scholars create.
I hope this gives a bit more clarification.

Vesna,
Thank you so much for responding to this post. I'm excited to see your suggestions and I am excited to be more transparent and provide more details as we continue to solidify them.
To TMQ, Jazzy O, & Vesna
We submitted some of our meeting notes above, now we have quite a bit solidified. We each broke up the Sustainable GOALS, into what we felt most comfortable and excited to talk about. For me I chose Good Health & Well Being because I teach health and P.E. On Wednesday of the week, I will be teaching, and asking the students to reflect on their own personal Health first (via a game and questions), then we will go global and take a look at the Health Climate of Egypt. After going global we will come back home and take a look at what the U.S. standards are for health, and how Flint Michigan ended up the clean water crisis they are currently working their way out of.
After the first 3 days of lessons and receiving information we will ask the students to bring their thoughts together via various art forms like what Mylah mentioned above. The pamphlets will have our whole week in brevity so students can look at it and be able to read in writing what they are seeing on stage. And have take away!
